Refund Policy

Effective date: May 20, 2026 • Last updated: May 20, 2026

Paid subscriptions are non-refundable by default. That said, we try to be fair: at our discretion, we may issue a pro-rated refund based on your actual usage, so you aren't charged for what you haven't used.

1. Overview

This Refund Policy explains how refunds are handled for paid OpenAdapter subscriptions. Subscriptions are non-refundable as a general rule. However, we understand that circumstances vary, so we may — at our sole discretion — issue a pro-rated refund based on how much of your plan you have actually used. By subscribing to a paid plan, you agree to the terms described below.

2. Discretionary Pro-Rated Refunds

2.1 Refunds Are at Our Discretion

Paid subscriptions are non-refundable by default. We may, at our sole discretion, grant a pro-rated refund on a case-by-case basis. Granting a refund in one instance does not obligate us to do so in any other. Pro-rated refunds are not guaranteed.

2.2 How a Pro-Rated Refund Is Calculated

When we approve a pro-rated refund, the amount is based on your usage during the current billing period. We calculate the value of the API requests, tokens, and resources you have already consumed and deduct that amount from the fee you paid. The remaining unused balance is what gets refunded — you are only refunded for what you haven't used.

2.3 Usage-Based Deductions

Usage is measured from the start of your current billing cycle up to the moment a refund is initiated. This includes the cost of model inference, requests served, and any premium features consumed under your plan. If your usage already meets or exceeds the value of your subscription fee for the period, no refund will be due.

2.4 What May Be Refundable

Discretionary pro-rated refunds apply only to monthly paid subscriptions (Lite, Pro, and Max). One-time charges, taxes already remitted to tax authorities, and any promotional credits or discounts applied to your account are not refundable.

3. Refund Time Window

3.1 Processing Timeline

Once a refund is initiated and approved by us, the time it takes to reach you is determined by our payment gateway provider, DodoPayments, and your issuing bank or card network. OpenAdapter does not control this timeline. Refunds are typically returned to the original payment method within the standard processing window of the payment provider.

3.2 Original Payment Method

All refunds are issued to the original payment method used for the purchase. We are unable to issue refunds to a different card, account, or via an alternative method. If your original payment method is closed or expired, the refund timeline may be further affected by your bank's procedures.

3.3 Currency and Fees

Refunds are issued in the original transaction currency. Any currency conversion differences, foreign transaction fees, or charges applied by your bank are outside our control and are not reimbursed by OpenAdapter.

4. How to Request a Refund

To request a refund, email us at billing@openadapter.dev from the email address associated with your account. Please include your account email and the reason for your request. We review each request individually and, where we choose to grant a refund, confirm the pro-rated amount before initiating it through our payment gateway.

5. Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time from your dashboard. Cancellation stops future billing; your access continues until the end of the current billing period. Cancelling a subscription is separate from requesting a refund — if you want a pro-rated refund for unused value, submit a refund request as described above.

6. Exceptions

6.1 Policy Violations

Accounts suspended or terminated for violating our Terms of Service — including abuse, account sharing, or fraudulent activity — are not eligible for refunds. Resources already consumed in violation of our policies are non-refundable.

6.2 Service Availability

OpenAdapter routes through multiple third-party inference providers. Occasional latency, rate limiting, or temporary unavailability from upstream providers does not on its own entitle you to a refund. Any refund we choose to grant is still calculated on a pro-rated, usage basis.

6.3 Statutory Rights

Nothing in this policy limits any non-waivable refund or cancellation rights you may have under applicable consumer protection law in your jurisdiction.
